- 30 hours of instructor lead class time.

*We offer the same discount as signing up with a friend for students of military members, healthcare workers, and educational workers.
*All classes are being conducted online via Zoom. Drive lessons will take place at our office.

* The finish date is when in-class instruction will be over. The 6 hours of behind-the-wheel drives will take longer to complete. Typically between 6-10 weeks from the first day of class.
**Classes will not be held on MLK day, Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day.
Licensing Exams
*A photo ID is required for all licensing exams. Examples of this include State ID card, passports, ASB cards, yearbook photos and Military ID. We cannot administer the exam without a photo ID.
Knowledge Exam
Knowledge Exams available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Russian.
The Knowledge Exam is a written exam that is required to be passed in order to get your license in the State of Washington. This test will test an applicant’s knowledge of the rules of the road. Make sure to study the Washington State Driver’s Guide. A link to a PDF of that can be found below.
Prices:
- $20 for the first attempt.
- $15 for a re-take.
*Students enrolled in our course receive the Knowledge Exam at no charge.
*Valid photo ID is required for all exams.

Skills Exam
Skills Exams available in English and Spanish. No extra charge for the exam in other languages!
The Skills Exam is a driven exam that tests your ability to perform the necessary maneuvers to receive a license in the State of Washington. This will include but is not limited to parallel parking, backing around a corner, parking on a hill, lane changes, and other maneuvers necessary to drive a vehicle safely.
Prices:
- South Sound Driving School Student-$40
- Skills Exam in South Sound Driving School Vehicle-$75
- Skills Exam in Applicant’s Vehicle- $60

*You must have passed the Washington State Knowledge Exam before attempting the Skills Exam.
*Before taking the knowledge exam, you must pre-apply for a license on License Express through the Department of Licensing. This can be done at this link, https://secure.dol.wa.gov/home/newDriver.aspx. You will receive a number that starts with WDL, make sure to write this number down and bring it with you to the exam. If you already have a Washington ID card or permit, this number is on your ID card.
